Basketball player, Muslim woman, mathematics student, and campaigner for equality and diversity – we meet Mukadass Javaid.

Mukadass is a student at the University of Strathclyde studying a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science and has been playing basketball for at least 10 years.

Mukadass strives to promote equality and diversity within basketball and sport in general. Even though her degree is something totally different, it has never stopped nor hindered her in her dream to fight for change for our communities and to build a more diverse and equal playing field for everyone.

This episode was recorded at the 2019 Rural Youth Project Ideas Festival at Wiston Lodge, Lanarkshire. The festival brought together 50 young people from across Scotland, the UK and beyond to share ideas, network, develop new skills and discuss how to make life better for themselves and their peers.
