Ben writes; Phil Jarvis is head of farming at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust’s Allerton Project in Leicestershire, England, which has been researching the effects of different farming methods on wildlife and the environment for 25 years.
Phil has farmed at the Allerton Project since the 1990s and since then has experimented with a vast range of strategies to understand how to farm the land in a more sustainable manner, maintaining the highest yields whilst also safeguarding the environment, creating new habitats and boosting biodiversity.
