Jump back in time and hear stories recorded in an old cow byre in Tipperary. It’s all in this episode as we meet Tom, born in the early 1940’s in rural Ireland.
He tells us about the days of ration books, no waste, ‘Woodbines’, rural electrification, good neighbours, and why the humble cow is as important now as she was back then.
Tom talks about everything, including; local marriages, horses, cattle and pig fairs, ‘livestock dealers, the advent of farm mechanisation, the harvest and threshing, hand milking, and the Irish War of Independence and Irish Civil War family connection.
