Botanist, writer and TV presenter, James Wong, takes us on a mysterious and ancient journey back in time to discover the plant that makes popcorn.

About James

James is a botanist, which means he studies plants. He trained at Kew Gardens, in London, one of the world’s best and most famous centres for the science of plants and fungi. He has travelled to Ecuador, Java and China, looking at crops that we don’t eat much of.

In 2015 The Sunday Times listed him as one of the Top 20 most influential people in horticulture. He is the author of the internationally best-selling books ‘Grow Your Own Drugs’ and ‘Homegrown Revolution’. He presents BBC programmes, including the award-winning ‘Grow Your Own Drugs’ & ‘Great British Garden Revival’, and has been on Radio 4’s ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’.
